Valentines Day!

Well, its february 14th, valentines day again...
Looked about, see no threads being started so I figured i may as well spark some late morning discussion.

Does this day meen anything to anyone on these boards, or like me, is it just another day of the week?
Im still single so see no importance in it whatsoever
Any thoughts?

First one in a few years I've been single for and god it's annoying when you don't have a willing young lady trying her very hardest to make it 'special'

My very first valentines about 8 years ago is now going to be my last valentines, which is supposed to be sweet. I got her a little something, she appreciated it, and she gave me a little something.

I'm been given totally strict instructions not to commemorate the day in any way.
Not sure if I like that or not.
Still couldn't resist a "happy...... wednesday" greeting this morning though.

I did have a lady who I met a week ago but she hasn't rang us so I am deliberating on turning up to a bar just for the hell of it and see what happens

My first one as a singleton too... I'm quite enjoying it.

Staying in tonight with a bar of choccy, Ginger beer (can't drink wine, on antibiotics for poorly teeth at the mo) and watching Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives on TV.

No different to any other wednesday though.

It's all about me this year... don't have time for relationships.

I'm a sucker for Valentines, but only because my wife would kill me if I didn't do anything.....well trained, that's me.

Last year I wrote 'I love you' and 'I adore you' in rose petals, two foot high on the landing walls in our house. They're still there...

This year we've been too busy/skint, so I got her some flowers, a nice card (filled with mushy sentiments), and these four plastic hearts (large fist size) two of which I filled with little scented hearts I found in some shop, and the other two I got our son to write out 'I owe one kiss' (he's only four, so it looks cute) in pink pen, which I think copied 50 times, folded up and put inside.

Then breakfast in bed, accompanied by a single red rose.

Altogether now...Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh.....

No really, that's really quite cute... it's the thought that counts and at least you've put some effort into it!

So has Jon, because I think it's the way he treats me the other 364 days of the year that counts not just one day I know he loves me and he knows I love him, don't need cheesy hearts, cards and wotnot to tell me that, anyway I get spoilt with Wine and Chocolate regardless

I hate Valentines day with a passion tbh, a holiday that excludes the single and basically does it best to make you feel abnormal if you are not currently head over heels for another.

also i just got given a cake with a big heart on it, bought from greggs, and i thought it was a glazed sweet thing and it was really a plastic ring embedded in it.


so now my tooth hurts

Got my missus a necklace and a cheesy card and cooking her a meal (not that I don't cook normally) so she should be happy
