I thought the 360 GPU was awesome? Supposed to have tech that PCs have only recently got with the release of the likes of the 8000 series?

2 6800s? My PC has better than that and I bought that two years ago!

EDIT: Was I reading that wrong or was he trying to make 256Mb of memory shared between Cell and RSX a good thing?

Do a search for Chad Warden, his stuff is halarious, I don't know if hes trying to be sarcastic or not though.

The XBox360 has now been equalled I think in tech by PCs but is considerably cheaper and less maintanence than a top end PC. The technology market in gaming is like a elastic band one is front, then the other, then back again.

Yeah the Cell/RSX is interesting, its whether its got the mileage for the quoted 7 years, I personally doubt it.

Quite simply, never trust anything Sony has to say in relation to longevity of a product. The PS2 was apparently "futureproof" according to them, because it had USB ports. They've said the same thing about the PS3 (although because of a different reason), yet theres still talk of the PS4.

We could maybe all chip in a few quid and set up some kinda home for these rabid fan folks.

Preferably on a quiet little island somewhere. Big fence down the middle. You'd just be able to hear the faint cries of "FACT !" from the mainland...

I find it amusing that the console contingent seems so hung up on hardware....is this not a little bit of an irony considering one of the main benefits of say console over pc gaming, is to avoid the potential pitfalls which can occur from various pc complexities.

I stand by why I have always said in regards to this seemingly never ending 360 vs PS3 debate....the one with the best games will end up being the most popular, because that's what people buy it for. No point having a stupidly powerful maching if the games are rubbish, or if the hardware is never used.

Things like the PS1 lasted because of the games available, not (in its later years) the hardware or graphics.

of course there hung up over hardware. unlike PC gamers, console gamers are stuck with it until the next generation comes along. so its EVEN MORE IMPORTANT THE MANUFACTURER HAS GOT IT RIGHT

I suppose, but then again, if console x plays game y, and you like game y, what is the reasoning behind buying console z just because it's got better hardware?

    That was more my point
