Trackmania Nations Forever (free game): Hexus Multiplayer Event

This is a spill over from the game thread in the bargains section on the forums. It has been suggested we have a multiplayer event to play this game head-2-head with other hexites, with I think is a splendid idea.

You can't get Trackmania Nations on Steam anymore, just logged in and took a look. They have the new one Trackmania United but that is $40

Think it would be best to download it from one of the other links then play it without Steam.

I have United Forever and have been playing for a year or so. I would definitely be up for an arranged race. May I suggest we set up a Hexus group within the game? That way we can compare times and rankings easily.

Downloading it now from the GamerHell link, should be down in about 20 mins. Will set it all up and post my username once sorted.

I'm not a big racing game player except for NFS Carbon and Underground so no doubt will lose most of the time but should be fun!

Mind you I did clock Colin McCrae Dirt on the 360 and I do have an analogue PS2 style pad for the PC so could be interesting!

I did play the world one a couple of years ago. Some of the tracks there were just plain mad though. Good fun though.

It is available, I started my download this morning at 7.30am, highly doubt it's been removed. Yes it's not been made so easy to find, but it is there! Just make sure you get the 'nations forever' version, the other is the one they charge for

With regards to the Steam ID, I must admit I'm a bit native on the whole steam community thing and not sure how it works, was hoping someone would take the lead and arrange the event!

I'd be up for that. Just downloaded TrackMania Nations Forever last week when it was first released. Played the former TrackMania Nations a bit in the past, too.

Any time in the evenings would be best for me. My new handle for TMNF is Snowball79, formerly Snowball on TMN.

Name a server so we can get some practice in beforehand to level the playing field.

Downloaded it and got gold on all the White tracks. Doesn't seem that much different from before, but still good fun.

Set some official times on those tracks and once we set up a Hexus group, we'll be able to compare times.

Ok, I managed to create a group via Maniazones, which shows the ladders from around the world:

You can join the Hexus group in the game or through Maniazones by using the following details:

Password: hexushexus

This way we'll be able to compare Official Times and see each others rankings.

I didnt get the game through steam, but I am a member of the hexus.net group on Steam so I'll still be able to see organised races! My steam ID is PsychoBen87. My trackmania id is Psycho Ben87. I couldn't get that mania zones thing working so i'll join the group later on in the game.

Evening is a good time for, day of the week doesnt / shouldn't matter, 5 onwards

Can someone give instructions how to find the game on Steam. I've downloaded the other version and can't get connected online with it.

I can only find the new one in the games list at the min.

EDIT : Found it on Steam. Its not under the usual games list.

Under latest news at the very bottom there is a link for TM Nations. Click on that then just follow onscreen links to get it. Hopefully this will fix my connection problems.
