I was thinking more about the games that are unique to PC, the wider variety of peripherals and all the thousands of things that you can do with a PC that you can't do on a console, and also the fact that you can use a PC to store almost limitless amounts of stuff on unlike consoles which have more limited disk space. Etc.
But all the other things you can do have nothing to do with gaming, and thats what we are talking about.
Storing limitless amounts of stuff has nothing to do with gaming. If you want to do that, buy a PC.
Yes there are games unique to PC... and games unique to consoles.
I'd go as far as plus point, yes, but the games are the most important.
Apart from acrobat mentioning the games titles which are unique to PC, the wider variety of PC peripherals, and all the thousands of things you can do with a PC that you can't do on a console, I agree with you mmh.
I'd be interested to know if anyone other than mmh posted in this thread from a console rather than from a PC? (I'd imagine that, if there were a poll done, the PS3 would win the 'ease of Internet browsing and typing' out of the 360, Wii and PC, but... umm... well, I'm just waffling againsorry)
although it seems a bit unneeded now, I'll just throw my 2 pence in as I recently made a similiar decision in favour of the PS3. The facts that informed my decision where:
1) PS3 has Blu-ray and I was looking at getting DVD player to take advantage of my new HD TV, so this effectively represented value I could use
2) The PS3's failure rate is much lower. I normally don't have a lot of spare time and travel regularly for business. The hassle of having to sort out warranty repairs and being without a console when I want it is something I factored in as fairly significant to me (others may feel differantly)
3) Games library on the PS3 is much smaller. However, I typically won't play more than a few games a year anyway and I want a console mainly for driving and fighting games. there are enough good games (tekken 5 and motorstorm for example) to satisfy me and enough on the horizon to keep me interested. Big exclusives seem to be getting rarer and rarer these days as well. Further, I own a powerful enough PC and a lot of the XBox360 exclusives often find their way onto that (Gears of War, Mass Effect) eventually (I imagine mainly down to the similiarity of the development enviroment making ports relatively cheap).
***Actually, the smaller games library is kinda good in a way. With less out there, there's less inclination to buy something and then end up not touching it in favour of another game that comes out a few weeks later.... fewer games means I may actually play everything I buy...
4) Online on PS3 doesn't seem as developed, but I have a PC for that and don't really venture online that much anyway. I hardly have enough time to complete the single player most of the time.
anyway - i know the OP has made a decision, but in case anyone else is reading with a similiar query...
Another format ditherer here! Had a 360 which was sadly stolen (insurance wouldn't pay out due to lack of violent or forced entry ) and loved it, however, looking at the PS3 for both gaming and moreso the BluRay and upscaling.
My fav games on the 360 were -*ahem* Lego Star Wars, Halo and Ultimate Marvel Alliance, and I'm absolutely poo at driving games (no jokes at women drivers please) and have little interest in shooting or fighting games.
I am a little concerned at the lack of games that interest me currently, but then I said that when I first bought the 360.
am i the only person who just plays viva pinata on the 360?
