Red face HL2: DM - Is the Gravity Gun skillful, or for 'gays'?

I this week have discovered the wonderful realm of Half Life 2: Deathmatch, and I go around as either '`unreal' or '`unreal - teh physiks dude'. So my weapons are 99% of the time are the stunstick/crowbar, and the gravity gun. And maybe once or twice the rocket launcher lol.

SO ANYWAY I get into a room, and theres this guy, at the top of the scoreboard, whos not really got much honour. I have a crowbar, he sees me, and wastes two whole machine gun magazines at me. And that happened so many times. Before you say anything, I know its a game where you have to kill to score any way you want to, but the majority of people would whip out their crowbar and take it on. He did the same thing when I had the gravity gun too, and sometimes he would rocket me point blank when I was running around, not shooting at all, looking for a radiator to pick up. If I didn't quite die, he would machine gun me down.

    So I literally stomped on his head with all sorts of stuff. Tables, monitors, I even caught his plasma ball thing and threw it back at him. And he says;

"Gravity guns are for gays. You need 0 skill to kill people with that".

The admin argued back, saying rocket launchers are for gays (he was camping the spot) and this is where it sparks up. I say you do need skill for it, and he says

"Grav gun is the the same as AWP/Autosniper in CSS".

Now I am not going to tell you about my epic gravity gun trilogies, about how I made long range kills with a toilet seat, and how I killed someone with a fan power plug on that prison level, I feel like seeing how you find it. So whats the deal?

The gravity gun is easy kills, mainly due to everything (ive seen) being instant kill, however it does take a lot of skill mainly because you cant see where the hell your aiming at.

Also, youre gonna get told off for the thread title i think

The stun stick is for the truely skillful, or rather the person who enjoys the most laughs.

Nothing like watching someone fire until they hear "click click" and then thwacking them round the head.

As for the grav gun, id argue it takes more skill than a gun certainly.

scout for the win.... oops wrong game

It's all down to what you do with it. Picking up washing machines and squashing people with it is FUN but it gets boring after a while.

I prefer the stun stick, shotgun and various other weapons over the grav-gun

I heard that too, probably a myth...

I love a good crowbar fight though If me and my mate play in a free-for-all DM, and we see each other, we drop what we are carrying, or put the weapons away and thrash at it. Until someone takes advantage of that and mowes us both down by spamming the submachine gun in our face

or a... RAZER BLADE, phwoar! LOL A knife would be a cool addition but its a bit more unfunny than a guy running around in circles waving a crowbar everywhere....

Hoodmeister, you find it laggy? I got a crappy wireless connection, so I constantly get around 80 choke, 5 loss, but I still manage to find it fluid

Aye mate... I just gave it a bash, didn't check pings, but found it to be pretty jumpy (throw a barrel at someone, they vanish and reappear behind me )

I can't stand how the online gaming community always resorts to the same sort of name calling. If you are winning, you are gay or cheating. Seriously, these people need to grow up. If someone is using the RL too much, call them an asshole, not a fag.

Lol I know all about CS:S mate , it's the second most played game on my X-Fire list... a mate just got me to play this with him last week and I'm addicted to it!

Ah hoodmeister, bit poor to hear that, perhaps give it a shot on another server? I find it no more laggy than counter strike... (lets be obvious people, CSS is pretty fluid when it comes to good servers).

CSS & me just don't mix...

I still have a hard time figuring out if someone is on my team or not, at range :<

suffice to say, i'm not the most popular of players :/

edit : as explained above, I don't really play it much... But CSS is smooth as a slugs back... Might give HL2DM a try on another server :chin:
