Xbox 360 HD DVD

Morning all!

Incase some of you have not seen the news, Bill Gates anncounced that there will be an external HD-DVD drive for the 360 probably sometime this spring.

I'm wondering if it's worth waiting to see if they start making 360's with HD-DVD drive built in?

IMO i'd reckon they'd be silly not to make an internal version as well!

It's all good! I reckon they'll keep it external (due to cost), although internal would be better.

if its only for movies then i'll just save the money towards a PS3 instead...

I knew that they would annouce this, infact I glad they have. 10 HD DVD titles have just been annouced.

HD DVD should have been standard on the 360, microsoft were a bit dumb not to include it ....anyway looks like the 360 and PS3 will really hot-up the HD DVD / Blu-ray war.

Do you really believe that? How many people have you seen on this forum alone that say they are just going to buy a 360 because they can't wait the extra 9-12 months for the PS3? I would say it was a good idea to release the console the way it is in order to start pushing volume.

I agree that to try and beat the PS3 they had to start early, but im just thinking those who have already bought a 360 will be a little ticked off; these are the hardcore followers remember and they just have to spend spend spend by the looks of it to keep up. If i had already got a 360 i wouldnt be too chuffed thats all. But its good to see healthy competition

not the way i see it. They bought a 360 knowing it had no HD -DVD drive, now if they want to watch HDDVD movies, they can either buy a standalone player, or an addon for the 360, which will probably be cheaper.

Yeh everyone is gonna have to buy a new DVD player anyway so there was no reason for MS to delay lau thnch or increase price to include one frome start.

XB360 owners have the choice now...

Playback on a dedicated hd-dvd player will probably be better anyway....
