News Gaming PC what 3D games should I buy?

i'm new to this gaming part of Hexus forum

I have ordered a high spec gaming PC (cost me an arm and a leg and wont be able to afford going out for a while) and just wondered what 3d games you guys recomend to really show of my new PC. (looking to make freinds with consoles cry )

I want rich 3D graphics (I very much liked the look of "far cry" and looking forward to playing that with the settigns all high)

    The PC spec is:-
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ - Socket AM2
    2GB 800Mhz ram
(2x500MB) nVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 (two cards sli linked in one package)
    2 x 250Gb Sata 16meg ram drives
    20.1" wide screen 8mc TFT
Lots of scope to overclock too.

I like action and driving games and like on-line action too.

either released games of forthcoming releases.

    Thanks

Well I really enjoy Battlefield 2. It's about a year old admittedly, but your system will be able to play it with all options to full.
I supposed that graphically, the best game of the moment is Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and your widescreen monitor probably has a 1680 x 1050 resolution so you again can play with everything on full.

For general game support in widescreen (as not every game actually has a native capability, such as battlefield 2,) check out www.widescreengamingforum.com
I'm commenting on an internet forum. Your facts hold no sway over me.

Definitely Oblivion, for the WOW factor - with that setup, you will be able to just have everything on full, get a nice day, get on a horse and ride through the forest with HDR streaming in everywhere - your mates should be impressed.

Also a second for FEAR, there are lots of cool sci-fi effects and although the game is ho-hum, its definitely a visual treat with everything on...

I wouldn't get an AM2 system, with Conroe out this month.

FEAR pushes systems nicely, as does Oblivian. Far Cry and HL2, also look gorgeous, and Quake 4/Doom 3.

Feckin' sweet system, but if you're buying new and especially at that price I'd wait for Intel's whupass Conroe

iv been reading a lot about Conroe since ordering this PC, o well always something new round the corner can't wait forever. Ive been using AMD CPU's for a few years now and kind of got used to them but yes look like Conro will push AMD of the gaming top spot for a while me thinks.

If you want to test your pc then get F.E.A.R. and The Elder Scrolls Oblivion. They are great games

Yeah, on the games frony F.E.A.R. is really good especially me and my mate are like mack and mesh!!

NFS: Most Wanted looks pretty if you like driving games. Quake 4 and Doom 3 are still very good looking. PREY the demo is out atm and the graphics look insane!

If you do like racing games Need For Speed: Carbon and Test Drive Unlimited look immense and they will be demanding from what I've seen.

Crysis will come out eventually too and the physics and graphics are indescribably beautiful!

You don't need to wait forever, just 3 weeks. Madness getting an AM2.

Yeah I'd agree, the Conroe spanks any of AMDs equivalent offerings and it's literally around the corner It'll be worth it mate, just hang in there

hes already bought the pc so why go o nabout it, i dont think that any game is going to test that system for a while anyway so who cares.

what kind of games do you like, i mean a game can look the part but actually be a bit rubbish, fear takes like two days to complete or something silly so short i found it, i play counter strike and i dotn care about the gfx its all about the game, so pick a type of game and then find a nice looking one to play

Dont make this guy feel bad - hes probably already ordered the system and like he says, theres always something better. We all (and even he knows) that conroe is gonna be better, but lets not hammer the "Get Conroe" message to him

Just so that he can get a nights sleep without thinking that he has bought a real expensive paperweight.

Conroe or not - if you can afford to get the system that you have ordered, then you wont be too fussed anyway. Remember, that is STILL going to be a kick-ass system!!! And although the new Intel CPU is great, arent most new games GPU limited (correct me if I'm wrong, I have read too much of the performance articles, just seen some general reviews)

All in all...Just enjoy the gaming....

...and if you DO want to get Conroe - well PM me and I'll do you a favour and take that rig off you
