    8800 GTS problem

hi just bought a 8800gts 640MB but not too sure about installing it

do i just use the pci-express cable to connect it?

becuase on the motherboard abit IL9-PRO theres a 12v connecter thing besides the pci-express slot where the gpu fits into.

shall i connect both the pci-express connecter and the 12v thing? or jsut the pci-express connecter? i got a tagan 580 modular psu

    thanks in advance guys!!!

You need to plug in the PCI-E cable to the card. Not sure about the one on the board, what does the manual say? What shape is the one on the board? pic?

That 4 pin molex connection basically provides extra power if you are powering graphics in SLi etc.

If you're only using one GTS, i don't think it'll be necessary to connect a molex to it.

Still, you will need to supply power to the graphics anyway, so no matter what, the graphics pci e connector will need to be fitted.

Though if it does cause stability problems (doubt it will) but just being cautious, connect the molex to see if that helps

yea my friend has that on his mobo too. i doubt it will do any harm if it is plugged in. your mobo manual should say what to do with it and when to use it.

Atleast with my now dead 6800GT, if you didn't plug one of the cables in there was a buzzer of somesort on it.

It would deafen you if you happened to miss one of the connectors out.

So if it doesn't like something I'm sure it'll tell you about it

I have this same setup on my motherboard and connected the GPU to both power supplies.

I have been running for about one month now, without any problems.
