8800gt Driver Problems I bought a Gainward 8800GT yesterday to replace my dying 7300GS, and I keep getting the 'Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.' error message whenever i play a game or at between 10-30seconds into 3DMark06. Does anyone know anyway to fix this? ![]() System: Q6600 2GB Crucial Ballistix Ram Last edited by dk04_2; 03-11-2007 at 11:58 AM..

Re: 8800gt Driver Problems Did you update the driver when swapping card? If not - nip to the nvidia website and get the newer drivers and install them. ---- Why do Computer Scientists get Halloween and Christmas mixed up? Because Oct. 31 = Dec. 25.

Re: 8800gt Driver Problems So you've tried the 169.02 WHQLs and the 169.04 Betas? Does the error occur when trying to run any 3d rendering? i.e. do any games work

Re: 8800gt Driver Problems They arent actually WHQL yet, but yeah ive tried both of those. It will load a game for a few minutes and then the screen will go black, the game will exit and then i will get that error message in a bubble - same with 3DMark06

Re: 8800gt Driver Problems There's a few google articles about that error, and it seems to be caused by a number of things, i) Running 2 monitors ii) Having Dreamscene enabled iii) Ram Timings not set to 1:1/Incorrectly set in the bios There's 113 pages on that error ! NVIDIA Forums -> nvlddmkm stopped responding in Windows Vista

Thats the first thought I had when he said he's using Vista 64. More specificly, if it a video driver/Vista 64 conflict? That could be quite possible, especially with the card being new... From what I understand, Vista 64 is still a little flakier with hardware than the 32-bit version is... Anyone out there using Vista 64-bit get the new GT card to work? --2Cold Scorpio - Guildcom.us "We'll build a perfect beast with the knowledge that they seek; if it takes 10,000 years, we never will retreat!" --Prophecy, Iced Earth ![]()

Re: 8800gt Driver Problems Just tried the drivers that came in the box, Forceware 167.26, still has the same problem. Also thought the card was running hot at 69C so ran the fans full, now runs at 54C with the same issue. The computer does run stable when graphics card is set to "Standard VGA", but what good is that?
