Unless, of course, you have one GPU idle while the other is doing all the work, that'd be efficient

Now get the nvidia yet to be released card vs ATI yet to be released card.. that'd be a nice comparison.
I can't be bothered to go into detail. The points you make are allthough partly true, irrelevant. Modern GPU's use a crossbar memory controller. Look up how it works. The amount of time both GPU's will need access to the same 32 bit memory controller part in a dual 256 bit setup is 6.25%
Looking at crossfice and SLI scaling, one of the GPU's being idle 6.25% of the time is pretty insignificant.
I dont know if that post was meant to be sarcastic or not, but if it was, then it's pretty stupid when you have a very limited understanding of what you are being sarcastic about.

Has Nvidia actually got anything though to go up against ATI's 4K series. Nvidias 9K series was nothing more than a rebadged 8K series with a few minor tweaks.. Maybe their have no new ideas at the moment!!!

You really think so Brewster, Being the market performance leaders nvidia just decide to release their most powerful card at a time when they really didn't need too? The joke is that is still based on a really old design with updates. so i would believe that Nvidia have a brand new core design sitting behind close doors.

If this is true, the 4870 is sub £200 and is released in the next quarter, I might just buy one.
Sub £200, i'm suspicious of that. But if it's true i'll certanly be replacing mine

I wasn't suggesting it was going to be a sub £200 card; I have no idea how much it'll cost. I was just saying that if it is and it is as fast as these benchmarks suggest, I'll get one.

I'd happily pay £400 for a single card solution that is 75-100% faster than my existing 8800GTX @ 1900x1200 resolutions, high AA. Not saying this is but that's what I'd need to bother upgrading. Nvidia, ATI/AMD, don't care as long as it doesn't require SLI.
