need a new gfx card cooler

well i need two, one for me and one for my sisters kids pc.
story , my one is too loud to keep cool and my sisters kids one, well when he gones into one game it crahs's and says display driver issue, the ati software sayed the fan is on full but the temp still goes up to 60 idle plus ajusting the fan speed does nothing.

so what one to get, i got my eye on these two

Also the ACTT is a poor cooler i my expoerace get thisinstead.

But these cards can operate up to 100c fine so the card itself may just be fubared

I have the Akasa Vortexx Neo that the previous poster mentioned. The stock cooler will be quieter when you are not gaming if your HD4850 has the reference cooler. However when you are gaming the Akasa cooler will be much less noisier. The reason is that the fan on the Akasa cooler has a fixed speed. The only way to vary it would be to use a fan controller.

yep, reinstalled the drivers and both have the single slot coolers, mite have to get them cards, looks like the ones i put on my 9800pro and 9600pro , cheeper as well

Another advantage of the Akasa cooler is that it blows air onto the VRMs of my HD3870. This means the components of the graphics card which are needed for power regulation get some additional cooling which is good!!

Not got much experience of gfx coolers, but I will say that 60dC idle temperature on a 4850 is not unusual, and if anything quite low! The most recent Hexus review (NVidia GTS 250) includes an ASUS HD4850 512MB which hits 74dC idle and 88dC loaded! So it may be worth looking elsewhere for the problem...

I'm not sure about the Vortexx. It seemed good for cards such as the 8800gt, but the VRM's and memory on the 4850 run a bit too hot for me to trust it :/

One trick I remember with the 4850 stock cooler, is you can keep the VRM heatsink from the stock cooler by physically cutting it off.
Which is handy as VRM coolers are not that easy to find.

The Vortex Neo is rated very highly as a cooler for the 4850 and is more like the 4870 cooler (or the old GeCube 3870/3850 cooler which was probably the single best prefitted aftermarket cooler for them, why GeCube didn't use them or a veraition of them on there 4850/4870 I'll never understand)

For low noise cooling I seem to remember that the Scythe Musashi is very highly rated, although not that cheap.
