    ATi 58xx series question...

Does anyone have even the vaguest idea if these are still coming out around Octoberish to coincide with Windows 7?

I am trying to decide whether to get a 4890 Vapor-X for £161 now and then upgrade to a 58xx card in October or to go for two 4890 Atomics now and not upgrade them for a couple of years?

My leanings are to get the Vapor-X and then the 58xx (I would be able to get another next year to do Crossfire.

They were saying back in April that the 5870 and 5870X2 would be out in time for the Win7 launch, and AMD/ATi previewed one at Computex in June.

The cards are coming, that we know. So buying a new card may not be as much of a downfall if you were planning to upgrade but buying to on the other hand will be harder to swallow. Ss it really worth buying two cards that are effectively old tech, and who knows the new 58## could be faster than 2 4890's

Latest I have heard, seems to suggest that we will not see new cards until Q4 - actually likely around late October.....coinciding with W7, perhaps ?!

That's what I heard, October to coincide with Win7 & DX11. Great, so I'll get my single Sapphire 4890 Vapor-X overclock it a little, then in October grab me a 5780 or 5870X2...

Far be it for me to stop you spending your hard-earned, but isn't a £150 for a 4890 a little overkill for a GPU you're thinking of using for only a couple of months? You can pick up 4850s (~£80) or 4870s (~£110) which would still be considerable upgrades to your 2600.
