Adequate Graphics card / CRT Monitor recommendation for GAMING

    Dear all,

I'd like to invest in a graphics that can do the following:
    - Run UT2K4 with no problems
    - At resolution of 1024*768
    - High details

Thats a card that i'm looking for.
    My system specs is:
    MSI K7N2 DELTA-L
    ATHLON XP 2600 Stock
1GB DDR 333 running in Dual Channel mode
    80GB Maxtor HD 72Krpm 8MB cache
    (Insert graphics card here please)
    (Insert monitor here please)

Qu. Would a Geforce Ti4200 64mb ram (8X agp) be adequate to run UT2K4 at a nice level in my system?

Qu. Other recommendation that would make the experience more enjoyable?

    Qu. WHICH CRT MONITOR !!!

I've had a bad experience with a TFT (some digimate 15" TFT with 16ms) Movement in games seem "slow" "slightly blurry". Mouse movement doesn't seem as "fluent"

So I'd like to go back to the roots and opt for a quality CRT monitor at a Student rate price if possible.
Qu. Any comments regarding this CRT from Aria

    - Dell 17" E773 Midnight Grey - Price is about 60ish inc del.
    From their super specials

Price range preferably around the £60 mark!

As for the graphics card - Around £80 odd would be great... or preferably less. Desperate price would be the 100 mark.

    Thanks you all in advance...!!!
Please ask for more relevant info.

I think the best thing to get would be a 6600GT - they tend to be faster than 9800 Pros, although the 128 bit bus slows it down at higher resolutions and AA.

I think i need to make bit more post to see the For Sale forum. Is it 50 + ?

That VM pro CRT totally blows my price range, almost 3 X the factor.
Can i also ask, a CRT... Quality isn't its main concern i suppose? As my 17" Gateway monitor that was about 5 years old produced flicker free / no ghosting effects. Makes no sense to splash that amount of cash on a CRT?

I mean, i only want to play a game such as UT2K4 at res of 1024*768, nothing more...!

I had a thought about the 6600GT, but everywhere they are too high in price. Above 140 everywhere. Doesnt do me justice as i'l be playing games around the UT2K4 graphics demands.

    Thanks.

the 6600gt is only slightly faster but if using AA/AF then the 9800pro will beat the 6600gt hands down

Right, I you really want to stick to £80-100 then get a 6600 from ebuyer or a 9800se, but it would be worth splashing out the extra for a 6600gt or 9800pro.

By second hand - you guys pointing me over to the "For sale forum" ? If so then i'l need to acquire that 50+ post count right? (constructively ofcourse)

All these figures about 98Pro for 80 odd, can't find that anywhere on the web...

I also had thoughts about 9700 PRO, can't find that anywhere too without prices up to 90 odd + !!!

9800pro prices go from £80-100 second hand on various forums, you may also get a 9700pro for under £70 second hand (1 just sold for £60inc on a forum i frequent)

Hm ok, thanks for the heads up...
Now i'l have to wait abit and regroup before splashing out!

Still, anyone got any thoughts on that DELL E337 monitor? It's CRT, its 17", its about 60 odd squid...
Enough for a normal no thrills neccessary gamer?
    Cheers
