Interesting!
I still believe that VIA could grab a lot of sales if they had a passive low profile card with flawless HD acceleration and good drivers. Never mind gaming performance, tune the card/drivers for video playback and you have a lot of people interested for HTPCs.
well with 4 to 8 monitor support I'm guessing this is more of a workstation focused card.
but it is nice to see they are still going.

Still going an competing with Matrox now it would seem
As far as I know, none of the current integrated solutions are quite perfect anyway.
The AMD boards are great, but they manage to break one thing when they fix something else in subsequent Catalyst releases. And nVidia drivers are just unreliable from what I can gather.
Sounds like they will be trampling on Matrox's toes!
Good luck to them though, I think the only S3 board I ever owned was a S3 Virge DX...upgraded to 4MB IIRC.....damn, that must have been a while ago now....

Seriously, good luck to them - as for matrox their stuff is absolute **** anyway (I deal with the fallout of their terrible hardware/drivers everyday) so i'd be happy to see another nail in their coffin frankly.
Yup, their day has been and gone - aside from driver issues they've fallen so far behind on the DX curve as to be useless on vista/7 and they keep trying to cut costs with passive heatsinks versus active ones which have cost us a heck of a lot of money on customer systems in the field as they slowly die. We're tied to them for technical reasons, but are working very hard on eliminating them from our systems this year - this will save us money, fix problems with reliability, give us better capabilities for DX/Win7 and cure some long standing bugs in our systems.
Matrox used to be a magical name - not anymore
