So who's running the oldest GPU?

    Hey,

I've got an 8800gts in my rig.

Have been playing the same games for some time, with my most recent ones being dead space 2, bioshock 2, Arkham city and arkham asylum.

8800gts seems to cope just fine on a 19 inch monitor with all of them, save for a wee bit of lag occasionally on Arkham City.

And, yes, OK, it can't play Crysis: Warhead on any decent settings.

it's been so long since I build the PC, and I've not looked at updates for a while, that frankly I've taken my eye off the market, and have no idea what's considered "decent" anymore

Might go for a full system rebuild in a year or so, but wondered if anyone else here is still limping along on anything like the 8800?

Voodoo 3 3500 at the back of the room. It cost me £250 back in the day so it's being used until it dies

Not used for any 3D stuff though.

Oh bugger, I have an 8800gts 512mb running my 24" monitor. I figured it was still plenty capable of modern games at decent settings. Is it really that old!

Damn thing cost me a fortune when it was new!!

8800gts here as well (the G80 640MB version). It's really awesome!!! I don't really play games anymore, mind :-)

Edit: Actually in the living room PC I've got a 32MB Kyro II PowerVR card of awesomeness... aah the memories!

Re: So who's running the oldest GPU?

7300GS, I sold my 5870 to make way for a 680, which was not in stock anywhere at the time so I popped my old passive 7300GS in to keep my pc working.

Since then I realised I don't game as much as I think and very much enjoying the quieter pc, whilst I still want a new graphics card it's not top of the list anymore.

Surprised no-one's come back with a 6600 or something yet. Used to love that card.

    Also liking the Voodoo 3.

Re: So who's running the oldest GPU?

Geforce 2MX in one rig, Matrox Millenium G-450 in another and until recently I still used a really crappy pci graphics card (not pci-e) for troubleshooting m/boards.

Re: So who's running the oldest GPU?

My step-son's gaming machine is rocking a 7900GTO, which is the oldest card currently in use. Sadly my old DOS box went in the last house move - that had some ancient discreet card that a previous owner apparently decided to hot-melt glue into its slot...

Mines a Nvidia 9500gt and I thought that was pretty old but my brother has a much older Radion 9550 with 128Mb of Ram

I think one computer is currently using a 7900gtx, although that can be swapped for the spare 8800GTS 512mb thats lying around.

    Does that mean I win?

The S3 is so slow that software emulation is actually faster..

Now that is an old card! I think somewhere in a box I've got a Righteous Orchid 3D. I remember loading up 'GL Quake' with that bad-boy, and being mesmerised by the glowing lava and reflections in the stained-glass windows on the intro level.
