Graphics card and the ATX specifaction

Maybe I am being really stupid here but I cannot find ATX specification information regarding graphics cards. The sort of stuff I am interested to know is maximum power consumption. Maximum dimensions of a graphics card i.e length and whatnot. Interested to know how many cards are outside ATX spec

Re: Graphics card and the ATX specifaction

ATX spec doesn't apply to graphics cards AFAIK - that's about power supplies and motherboard dimensions.

PCI-SIG defines the power limits that PCIe cards are supposed to adhere to, which is what governs graphics cards: basically anything that's rated to pull more than 300W is currently outside the PCIe spec. I don't believe there's any limitations on board size, although I suspect there are standards in terms of height of card to fit into a PCI slot.

Re: Graphics card and the ATX specifaction

Seems odd that there aren't some dimensions or weight restrictions because if a graphics card is long and heavy surely it can damage the motherboard or slot physically.

I suppose the assumption is gpu manufacturers won't make insanely long cards ... but they do.
