My 6850 running hot on idle all of a sudden.

    Afternoon peeps

Just spent and afternoon playing Skyrim and Turned if off for a bit cos the kids were playing up.
Went back to it and my card on idle is running at 66 deg with a fan speed of 70% which is a lot higher than normal. Its usually 56 deg.

The card is not OCed and my case ventilation is good.

Gonna turn it off for an hour and see how it goes after that.

Here is a pic of my gadget.

looks like the fan is stuttering/jamming.

    Hiya,

Assuming you're in the UK, don't forget it's been a fair bit warmer here the last few days, which can make a big difference! I'm running a well-past-its-best GF 8600GTS that really doesn't like hot weather! Keep meaning to re-do the thermal grease, but a bit frightened it might kill it. It did hit 95C the other day, so think I'll have to if it doesn't die!

    But anyway, just a thought!

    Cheers!

    Thanks for that.

Yes it has been warmer however, with further investigation it looks like the fan is the problem. Still communicating with XFX.
