Exclamation Abit ix48 gte - which graphics card?

    Hi everyone
    I got an Abit ix48 gt3 motherboard. Graphics card slots are pci-e x16 2.0.

Just bought a 3d monitor and need a new card with hdmi output so I can watch 3d.
Will this one work on my m/b? It says it is PCI Express x16 2.1... will this be a problem?
I've also seen another one which is pci-e x16 3.0... will this one work fine too?
    Thanks for your help.

Re: Abit ix48 gte - which graphics card?

So, it doesn't matter if the new card is a pcie 3.0... i guess it would work only as a 2.0 though right? (due to motherboard limitations).
Bugdet-wise, i think maybe around 50-70gbp... mainly i'm interested in playing smoothly Flight simulator X... and I want it to be ATI (don't like nvidia at all!!!)... and preferably with 2 hdmi outputs, although i cannot find one with 2 hdmi outputs...
    Any suggestions?

To be honest £70 is not enought to buy a HD7750 add another £30 to your budget and get one of these http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Compo...roductId=52020

What PSU do you have make and model plus wattage

Re: Abit ix48 gte - which graphics card?

yes, if it's a good one i wouldn't mind to go up to 100gbp... but that would be max :-)
Currently i have a Sapphire 4650... not having any problems with it, but would like to upgrade a bit :-) It's Christmas :-)))
PSU, don't remember... I think it's 650w... not sure though, will have to check and revert... what does the PSU have to do with the video card? May need to get a new PSU too? Because I wouldn't want to spend on PSU... would rather spend the rest of my budget as planned (Saitek yoke/throttle)...

Re: Abit ix48 gte - which graphics card?

I checked the card-link you gave... what's the "display port"? Can it be used as a hdmi?
Also the picture shows 1 dvi, 1 hdmi, 2 display ports... but the description states only 1 dvi, 1 hdmi, 1 display port... so, which is true?
Any siggestion for a card with 2 hdmi ports? (planning to get another 3d monitor shortly...)

Some of the newer AMD hd 7000 series requires a good PSU try and look at a cheap second hand HD5770 like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XFX-Radeon...item19d7bc23e3 or this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Two-pair-a...item20ce5c25cb

But if you want a better and faster card go for this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GPU-HD-685...item337ddbca6e but you may need a PSU upgrade dependant on your exsisting psu quality on the +12v rail ampage....

this is just to give you an idea what is available......

google Display port it will tell you more about what it is and how you can use it... !
