graphics card for bf4

i would really like to play this game on high or ultra i dont want to spend more than 160 pounds so far ive been looking at the 7870 and gtx 660 any advice would be appreciated. i know that the games is going to be optimized for bf4 but i still don't know which one to choose

I would say the safest bet right now would be a HD7870LE overclocked to within an inch of it's existence. What resolution would you be using?

Both are good. While we're at it, are there any other budgets that you'd like us to consider for your graphics card? I know you already started threads for a budget of £100 and a budget of £140.

Based on BF3, the 7870 would be the choice of the two....although don't expect a solid 60fps @ ultra even in BF3, although it should hang in and around 60 a lot.

As for BF4.....it's going to need more grunt. How much more......well I hope I don't have to tell you we don't know yet.....

Frostbite 2 ran better on AMD hardware, so I would certainly favor AMD if that's the main purpose and you want to buy before the game is released and benchmarked...

These (rather shouty) people think that a recommended spec will be a i5 and a 79xx or better.

It might be worth waiting to see if rumour that BF4 will be included with AMD's never settle bundle for the 8000's series cards is true. Buy a HD8870 and get BF4 as one of the free games maybe?

yh that's what i was thinking however i would like to know what to get in case the 8xxx series doesn't come out

my resolution is 1920 by 1080

Recommendations for bf4 just released, are nvidia 6000 and 7000 series for optimal settings......my sons gtx580 played bf3 on ultra with stock clock, might have to turn a few things down to run bf4 as it's using the frostbite 3.0.

I'd sit tight and wait to see what extra performance the 8000's bring and if AMD bundle BF4. I would expect the £200~ 8000 card to give playable frame rates in BF4 at 1920x1080. Anything you buy now within budget is questionable.
