    New card

It seems my trusty old MSI HD6850 OC Cyclone Edition ( similar to a HD6870 ) can no longer play games at max settings. Found this when I went to play Watch Dogs and maxxed everything out and noticed a bit of lag.
    Can't believe it's 4 years old.

So, I am in the search for a new Graphics card and do not want to spend more than around the £100 mark.

    I am looking at
    GTX 760
    GTX 660
    R9 270
    R7 260

Recommendations please Hexites. Oh, and I also ideally want cards with only one PCIE power so that they are not so power hungry

    Re: New card

Friend of mine got the Powercolour R9 270 Devil (might be a 270X... I don't recall, I'm afraid) and that certainly handles everything he's thrown at it without a single complaint.

With absolutely no overclocking, it works just fine on Thief, Tomb Raider, Borderlands 2, Watch_Dogs, etc...

    Re: New card

270 for about £120 should fit the bill.

280x cards for about £160 with three games looks to be best value. 2 pin I know....

    Re: New card

R9 270 performs about same as a HD 7870, so roughly around GTX 660s performance.

R9 270X performs roughly same as HD 7950, so GTX 760s performance.

Except AMDs range comes with 2 free games and is overall cheaper.

Before you order try the latest Catalyst driver as that's supposed to fix a lot of Watch Dogs issues.

I have. On Medium settings, everything's OK. On Ultra settings, there is little bit of lag. Some features also require 2GB GPU RAM

Tnx, I was looking at that as well. But, reviews say it becomes very noisy under load

    This is from HARDOCP

First, the loudest video card was the SAPPHIRE R9 270 Dual-X. This is in part because the temperature kept rising, and as it did fan speed would increase to exhaust the heat generated. Over 70% the fan ramping became audible, even while gaming. It was not harsh on our ears, but we could hear it

According to Scan THIS XFX 270X consumes 161W whilst XFX 270 HERE consumes 150W, for instance.

    Besides the 270 just a downclocked 270X

I don't like to be a pessimist buy if either can hit 60fps on ultra I'd be amazed. My 670 which is the same ballpark performance can't manage it in a lot of games, although I haven't tried watchdogs in bf4 I'm on high with ultra bits and no AA to get a consistent 60fps

Not anymore! Crysis 3 and Watch Dogs needs 6GB RAM! Have 8GB.
4GB Crucial Ballistix and the rest are generic Samsung ones
Different cards kitty. 270X vs 270

I too have no issues on BF4, it's just this Watch Dogs which needs more oomph

    Emm,HardOCP tested the Sapphire R9 270.

The SAPPHIRE R9 270 Dual-X was the loudest of the three video cards, especially when the fan speed increased above 70%.
