    Replacement GPU for <£100

I think my graphics card has a problem, all of a sudden I get a lot of strange artefacts (is that the right word?!) on my screen and the system crashes a lot. After a reboot I get these artefacts even during the boot phase and if I boot to safe mode. I've opened up the system and cleaned it out, rehoused the GPU to no avail. It's a good few years old.

Anyway, I think this must be caused by the GPU so thinking of a replacement. My budget is under £100.. I very rarely play games so doesn't need to be cutting edge.. I'm more interested in a card which has been on the market for a while which has proven very reliable. Any suggestions please? ...oh PICe x16

Check ebay. You can get a 7950 for ~£100. Price/performance can't be beaten.

If it has been on the market for a while, then that probably just means it is old stock given the shelf life of these things

You may not game often, but when you do game are you going to need lots of GPU grunt?

I went for this for my wife's PC: http://www.ebuyer.com/658545-msi-r7-...260x-2gd5-ocv1

That is well under your budget, for slightly over you can get a 265.

    Alternative is a GTX750, http://www.ebuyer.com/655027-msi-gtx...-n750-2gd5-ocv

No I don't have a thing about MSI cards, they just seem to be the best deal on ebuyer and I am too lazy to compare other vendors

Note both those cards are 2GB of vram, there are plenty of 750 cards out there with 1GB and I don't think that is really enough any more.

R9 265s can be had new for under £100, which is great price/performance. Better than the GTX 750 Ti.

750 To is an amazing card -> relatively to it's size, consumption and heat output. Seconded!!!
