    Upgrade from MSI R9 209?

Is it worth upgrading from Upgrade from MSI R9 290 to Upgrade from MSI R9 290X at this point?

Wanted the R9 290x originally but didn't have the extra £100.

Now I do, and also there's a couple games on never settle forever I want.

Is there anything coming out soon I should keep my eye on instead?

    Best regards

Oh, and i currently have a EVGA NEX750B PSU, would this still be enough to support the 290x?

IMHO i would say no just overclock the 290 you already have and just buy the games you want.

See what nvidias new 9 series brings to the table when its all out or AMD's responce to it if you realluy want to upgrade.

    Hello AlmightyJoygasm,

You'll be looking at about 7.5-10% performance difference between the cards. The performance difference between them won't be huge in fps terms, but in some cases every little helps.

Do you know what memory the 290P uses? If it's Elpida ram then i know for sure that the MSI 290X uses Hynix and this can give a little extra boost in performance too.

If you can do the upgrade without spending too much extra cash, then it might be worthwhile. Don't expect a dramatic difference though.

Thanks for the input guys, will give it some more thought before committing. If i see a nice deal or price drop somewhere I may just go for it, however.

The price difference for the 290x is not worth it - also 750W is more than enough.
