    GTX970 v 290x

    Hi,

My R9 290 was RMA'd as it was agreed it was faulty. I've decided to up my budget as I got a decent months pay from work last month So in the £250-260 ballpark.

I was set on the 970 but the 3.5GB ram issue has sorta put me off a little!

    Current rough figures:

    GTX970: £260
    290x: £220-260ish

I want it to last me 2-3 years given the cost. Mostly used for GTA 4/5 and some strategy games.

    Thanks!

Unless you're gaming on a 1440p screen and absolutely need everything set to Ultra in every game, those 3.5GB won't be an issue. At least it isn't for me. But yeah, it's annoying as hell to be lied to.

    Even then you'd struggle.

Can't view the link for some reason!?

I'll give the 970 another thought then!

It's a graph to show how much VRAM far cry 4 uses (less than 3.5GB)
