R9 285 crossfire

Has anyone seen crossfire benchmarks for the 285?

I notice you can get a 285 card for £120, which seems like serious value. A pair in crossfire would probably need a 750W PSU to be on the safe side, but if you have such a beast I suspect that config could give a GTX 980 a run for its money.

Seems to be a little better than a 290X, but the 2GB of vram would definitely create issues at anything higher than 1080P.

R285x2 benches might be quite useful if you're wanting a sneak peak of R390 performance too (Though you'll have to allow for the removal of certain bottlenecks with the HBM mem)

I would hope the 390 would have all the shaders unlocked as well.

Personally I don't see me getting 4K screens in the lifetime of my next graphics card, though looking at the 2560x1600 benchmarks above the crossfire score isn't letting up in at that many pixels so wqhd should be OK.

£120 seems a steal, I know the Linux drivers are going to give me untold grief but I am still really really tempted.

I've been out of the GPU market for quite a while now, just wondering how does a 285 compare to a 7970? I know there was a lot of rebadging around the switch to the 2xx naming, but never really got familiar with it.

7970 pretty much on par with 280X.

285 performance sits between 280X & 280, pretty much.

7970 should be identical clock for clock, as it is a 280X

I Crossfire 2 R9 285s with a AMD 9590 on a Asrock Extreme9, DDR3 2400 memory gives a score of around 13000 in Firestrike. Memory speed and HT link speed effect the score. DDR3 1600 and HT link speed of 2200 drops the score to 9700. Intel boards with DDR 4 ram should do even better. Yes Battlefield Hardline play is smooth at 2560 x 1440. I use 1000 watt gold power supply. That system does not suck that much power unless I am gaming or running bench marks.
