AMD Catalyst 15.7 WHQL drivers out

    http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

    http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-arti...easeNotes.aspx

These appear to be the anticipated unified drivers that bring the release driver improvements from the 300 series to older cards, so 7000 and 200 series should get a performance increase and some extra features like VSR (over sampled/downscaling), framerate target control, freesync in crossfire etc.

Good job I was sitting down for that one. Installed the update last night but haven't checked out the 7000 improvements, hopefully they bring some noticable changes. This driver version is also Windows 10 compatible according to AMD.

Nice! I've got some decent FPS gains with the MSI 390x, maybe this driver will help Fury X compete with the 980TI?

Re: AMD Catalyst 15.7 WHQL drivers out

Well only did a quick bench of 3dmark last night and got about 300 extra points.

Will be running some fraps tests on games with in built benchmarks perhaps tonight.

Re: AMD Catalyst 15.7 WHQL drivers out

Doubt it's gonna be more than couple of frames +/- for the games I'll run, which could be considered within the range of variation per run.

It would be a more conducive exercise if I was running the games that had performance fixes in this release, which I don't .

Re: AMD Catalyst 15.7 WHQL drivers out

It's good to see some new drivers at last and they do seem to have some improvements.

Still hasn't fixed the V-Sync issues I started having at the back end of last year and I'm not sure about the target frame rate control.

Set it to 60 in CCC but in actual fact it was keeping the frame rate at 58 and as such was out of sync with the refresh rate of the monitor so there was tearing and it made everything horribly jerky so that got turned off again quick sharp.

Offering a frame rate cap now after all this time, seems like a futile move on their part. Any one whom knows any thing about managing frame latency, already utilizes such tools as Radeon Pro, RTSS and Dxtory.
I'd much rather let Radeon Pro hard sync the monitor with the refresh rate, than have CCC put an artificial frame cap.

One big gripe I have with this driver version is that it disables any thing over 60hz on my monitor(s) as well as any custom resolution/hz in CRU. If I roll back to 15.6 or older it's fine.
    Matt you around to comment?

I'm not finding them as stable as the previous set, which were rock solid.

Still disappointed that I can't use over 60hz with these. Grrr..I hope this isn't a fundamental driver change that will carry on.

I had rolled back to 14.2 as I kept getting display driver crashes on the recent beta drivers, I upgraded to 15.7 when it came out and so far I'm happy to report no problems.

Re: AMD Catalyst 15.7 WHQL drivers out

Bought a sapphire 390x this week and getting some flickers/driver crashes while browsing, some places are reporting issues with hardware acceleration particularly with firefox, anyone else experiencing the same?

Game wise everything is smooth but going from a stable system to the occasional crash is not fun.
