    Best graphics card for £300

For a new Skylake 6700k build im planning.

I'd like to play games at 1440p, 4k if possible.

An option is to omit the GFX card for now and use the onboard if something good is on the horizon?

£300 is an awkward price range to be honest

You're best picking up something like a nVidia GTX970 or AMD R9 390, but these should cost you in the region of £250, if you want to go above these you're looking at the nVidia GTX 980 or AMD R9 Fury which are around £370-£380.

I think all cards listed would struggle with 4k 60fps, but should be ample for 1440p. I just bought a GTX970 myself (Asus Strix model, highly recommended if noise is important to you).

Unfortunately you just missed a deal for it on dabs.com Where I got it was £240 after cashback with 2 free games, effectively making it less than £200 once they were sold.

Thanks, I'll look into the Strix.

I've narrowed it down to the 970 or the 390x (more expensive). Any thoughts?

I'm contemplating the GTX 980 (EVGA version). Any thoughts on that card?

I mean it's a 980 it'll do what you want it to do. Not really in your £300 price range though. I'm using a 970 GTX and it runs like a dream.

Used 980s go for around 310-340 on ebay (EVGA being the more expensive due to the transferable warrenty).

I always wonder why top end cards at the moment are for sale on the second hand market.

Doing research for decent card atm and you can buy sapphiire r9 290x for 230 quid inc delivery from french amazon (look at hotukdeals for link),
some say that overclocked it goes better than 980 in some cases. It's power hungry though.

Overclockers have their version of 970 for 260 (GALAX GeForce GTX 970 OC Silent), which is nicely overclocked and has good reviews
