I'd like to get a Samsung 950 Pro but it looks like I'd be reducing the number of PCI-e lanes available to my cards.
Would it make a huge difference?
Board is an MSI Z97 Gaming 7 and CPU is an i7 4770k

nVidia don't allow SLI on motherboards with a 4x slot, but whether they'd cut it off in this circumstances I don't know.
Crossfire has no such limitation.
Whether there'd be any performance reduction depends on the cards. Generally there's not much performance loss, although high end Dual GPU cards can struggle in some situations.
That's what I was concerned about. The cards are 980 Tis. I don't think it makes sense to buy a new mobo, CPU and RAM for the sake of an SSD.
Do you know of any articles or anything where a scenario like this was tested?
