    Post Gtx 950

Looking to put together a new gaming PC and just wondering what people think of the 950? I'm not after being able to run everything on Ultra and 4k ect, just a capable build that can run a good range of games from older titles like Age of Empires and Battlefront 2 as well as newer ones like Fallout: New Vegas and GTA V.

As for specific models I was looking at the EVGA GTX 950 SC+ but also been wondering if anyone has any experience of the new Asus low power 950s.

Thanks in advance for any help/insight/advice.

    Re: Gtx 950

Any special reason for going for the 950? I mean space/power supply/thermal capacity restrictions.

Also the rest of your build could help advise you further (unless it is in your details, in that case I am sorry, hard to see on my pidy-phone)

Quick peek reveals £20 difference between 950 and 960 equaling to about 15-16% price increase. But incidentally the performance increase also hovers around 16-17% so pretty much you get what you pay for.

    Any budget in mind?

The biggest issue with nVidia's mainstream cards is that they only supports G-sync rather than DisplayPort Adaptive Sync, and G-sync monitors are substantially more expensive.

Well, and that their replacement is likely to launch several months behind AMD's new mainstream cards.

If you want a card right now then, I suggest an r9 380.

You can get an MSI AMD Radeon R9 380 2GB for £130 at CCL at the moment.

The R9 380 beats the GTX 960 in most cases and at this price point competes with the 950.

Plus you can get a cheap freesync monitor for £95 which is far less than any G-sync monitor.
