    gpu for 1080p?

Ive got everything for my build apart from a gpu now but cant really decide what to go for. ill mainly be gaming at 1080p on a 27" asus ve278h so i dont spending alot on somthing like a 1080 gtx would be worth it as i probably wont notice any difference. i did see the msi gaming x 1070 on offer on amazon for £347 but its ended now ideally id like a black or a red card to go with the rest of the pc. would i be better off going for a rx 480 or even a msi gaming 1050 4gb?

RX480 8Gb would probably be your best option with some future proofing it should be good for 1080p for another couple of years.

Powercolor Red Devil RX480 8Gb would be my recommendation, based on colour preferences and performance requirements, alternatively the Asus Strix RX480 8Gb would also be a great option

I have the Devil RX470 4GB which has some of the best cooling for an RX470 and the Devil RX480 also had a decent cooler and the your case seems big enough to take it. The Asus RX480 Strix has an RGB lighting system.

If you want to spend a bit less the Asus RX470 Strix 8GB is around £180,and is a smaller more compact card, and has the same RGB lighting system IIRC,but lacks the backplate of its bigger brother.

This XFX also got some very good reviews too:

JayzTwoCents seemed impressed by it but you need to swap the fans over to red ones(not sure if they are included) and I am still not sure if XFX CS is better than it used to be. The MSI Gaming X RX480 8GB is actually the perfect colour scheme - it does get decent reviews, but IIRC(I might be wrong) I think some users mentioned it did run a tad hot,and the Powercolor Devil RX480 is a better card overall IMHO.

Is it not worth waiting for RX570 RX580 out tomorrow? Rebrands yes but higher clock speeds out the box.

    Re: gpu for 1080p?

As well as the 580's we're meant to get a 1060OC refresh soon, so today's a bad time to buy a 1080p card

    Re: gpu for 1080p?

The GTX1070 for £299 is a decent price - regarding the RX580,it might be worth waiting a few days to see how pricing goes, although I am uncertain on whether it will be cheaper than some of the special offer RX470 and RX480 cards. Vega is apparently out next month, but unless RX580 pricing is well under £250,I suspect it will be over £300.

OTH,some games with Nvidia cards don't seem to do as well as they should on Ryzen apparently due to the drivers(ROTTR under DX12),but the GTX1070 is generally much faster overall than a GTX1060 or RX480.

For 1080p, you won't need much. A RX470 would be good. The price will drop soon when the R5xx series is out. Otherwise a gxt1060 even 3 gb should be great.

For 1080, I was using a GTX780... Now I have a 980Ti (£265) I'm in the process of going 1440, which is far better at 27", by the way!!

    Re: gpu for 1080p?

anything from rx460 4gb cards up will be fine. the rx480 8 gb cards are a steal at the moment. the new 580's are out and the new 570's review well. all around 2-250. I'd get the 480 for £180 or cheaper if you wait for the new deals as they will sell them off.

Seems a better choice to go with Gxt1060 now and wait until the price drop.
