    Razer keyboard not working

I just bought this Razer Deathstalker Essential a couple of hours ago and I'm experiencing problems with it.

Well it goes like this - normally, peripherals should work like plug and play but this thing didn't, the num lock indicator lighted up though.
So I thought I probably just needed to install that Razer synapse thing, but doing so didn't solve anything. I tried fiddling with the device manager but it only showed me that there really is something wrong. It showed me this -

The keyboard is listed as a mouse. And there are two entries under keyboard.
I've tried a bunch of workarounds on the net like updating drivers for the keyboard but I just keep getting error code 39 which says something like can't install driver because it's corrupt or something. Updated synapse but didn't fix anything. It doesn't even detect the keyboard.

I know the keyboard is working because I can access the boot menu with it when I turn on my computer.

    I need help. Fast

    Re: Razer keyboard not working

Uninstall drivers/remove device and try installing it as a generic keyboard.

I already did that. Its detecting this keyboard as both a mouse and a keyboard although the icon it uses is just a keyboard.
It won't let me install HID drivers for it - as I said, error 39.

    UPDATE:

I tried windows repair via boot menu and when it asked me for the password I laughed because there was no way to access the onscreen keyboard.
Then I just typed some random thing and to my surprise the keyboard was working. Then I tried booting into safe mode but no luck.

Now I really think it's a problem on how windows detects this keyboard.
I tried doing something with the registry but no luck either. And it still won't let me install the HID driver.

    Please help

    Re: Razer keyboard not working

I'm a bit impatient so I'll be formatting my PC 'coz I think it's a Windows problem...pray for me

UPDATE: It seems my hunch was right. It was a problem with Windows, I remember installing something like a joystick emulator and I've read somewhere around the net that it probably has affected the way Windows detects input devices. Now, with a fresh install of Windows, it works just fine.

However I am quite a bit disappointed that these keys aren't illuminated, after all, it was worth a pretty penny

Glad its working, shame about the illumination though, the writing doesn't exactly stand out as it is.

Yes, it's a real problem playing in the dark - 'coz I'm not yet that comfortable with the key spacings here, so sometimes I hit a different button and also I can't really feel the spaces in between the keys unlike a regular keyboard with medium-high profile keys. But this is really what I wanted, I really noticed that typing is much more smooth with this. There's a real difference in the time you need to actuate keys here, that's why typing with a laptop is a lot faster.

Now, with that being said, I place my hands real far apart because it really feels like a laptop and in my subconscious I'm thinking there's some sort of touchpad in between that I really shouldn't hit. I guess I need more training with it. Haha.

BUT YEAH, NO BACKLIGHT SUCKS. I'm saying this out loud - BADONKERS!!! I wish there was something out there that resembled this keyboard but had some LED illumination and sold cheap. By the way, I got this in a bundle that included an Abyssus Mirror for only 67 USD, which really seems like a steal.

The only remedy to this is to buy some of those good looking keyboard stickers, maybe I could find some glow-in-the-dark ones haha
