Win7 not recognising changed DVDs

So recently win7 has developed an interesting trait - when I change the DVD in the optical drive the system no longer spots the change. E.g. I currently have the Asus mobo driver CD in there and it swears blind it is the BF2 dvd. I can open the files on the DVD so it is recognising the actual file structure, but if I want to copy the disc etc it shoves everything in a folder called BF2_DVD. (BF2 was in the machine when it started up). Win7 Computer summary also lists it as BF2, complete with the BF2 logo and everything.

I'm guessing it's a simply windows setting somewhere to sort this out, but blown if I can find it. Any pointers?

glad I'm not the only one. And it makes no difference if I take the disc out. Even with an empty drive it still keeps showing BF2_DVD. (or if I restart and put a different DVD in the machine it will get stuck on that one)

SATA DVD-RW Pioneer DVR-219L, had it a good few years now & never updated any firmware so far.

Sense says this is some software issue, perhaps anti-virus or encryption or, most likely, one of those insidious copy protection things like SafeDisc.

In Device Manager, go to the Properties for the drive and on the Details tab look at the "Class upper filters" property.

I can't find Class upper filters, I have Class lower filters though???

my drive is LG BH10LS30 so different make altogether from Macadee's.

It's worked fine up til recently. Only stuff I've installed recently has been the Samsung magician software... that was when I first noticed this. It had asked to "optimise my computer for the SSD" I didn't let it, but I did let it toggle the "write-cache buffer flushing" setting though i can't see that that would cause this problem? I've toggled this off again and it hasn't resolved the problem.

It contains iaStorF which a quick google reveals as an Intel RST driver.

I'm about to do a rebuild in the next few days with another mobo and SSD, will see if that has the same issue.

Could still be a software issue of some sort.

When you reinstall, check its working after each bit of software or game you install, if it works at all that is.
