    Bios Update Woes

Rebuilding my HTPC at the weekend, adding soundproofing, all running ok. Updated my bios looking for better power management. Not quite what I got, temps have jumped 10c min from the outset, was happily idling around 32c and now in the 40s with the MB peeking around 50c.

Its an ASUS M4A785D-M-PRO board with a Semprom 140, that was in unleashing mode when I updated the bios, I am thinking this might have been my downfall. I have tried to go back to the original BIOS, in DOS with AFUDOS, but no luck, it just won't go back to the original bios revision (didn't save it, but re-downloaded). I have cleared CMOS as well. Now out of ideas.

Any ideas, do I need to reset bios or any settings within which have caused it to jump. Have resetted to defaults multiple times, it is quite an old board but runs everything perfectly so not looking to upgrade if I can return my temps (and sound) back to normal. Never had a problem updating before so a bit lost and out of ideas.

    Re: Bios Update Woes

Updating if anyone else has similar issues.

Had another stab at this over the weekend, and loaded the new bios revision on again in the final hope this would clear it. Didn't seem to work so was all ready to use a new BIOS updater in BUPDATER 24 hours later but noticed it appeared to have returned to normal. Was thinking of going back to the Semprom without the unlock before so have kept this for the time being and the system runs no different.

Bit of paitence and got there in the end. Note to self is reset bios settings before I update in the future.
