Rebuilding my HTPC at the weekend, adding soundproofing, all running ok. Updated my bios looking for better power management. Not quite what I got, temps have jumped 10c min from the outset, was happily idling around 32c and now in the 40s with the MB peeking around 50c.
Its an ASUS M4A785D-M-PRO board with a Semprom 140, that was in unleashing mode when I updated the bios, I am thinking this might have been my downfall. I have tried to go back to the original BIOS, in DOS with AFUDOS, but no luck, it just won't go back to the original bios revision (didn't save it, but re-downloaded). I have cleared CMOS as well. Now out of ideas.
Any ideas, do I need to reset bios or any settings within which have caused it to jump. Have resetted to defaults multiple times, it is quite an old board but runs everything perfectly so not looking to upgrade if I can return my temps (and sound) back to normal. Never had a problem updating before so a bit lost and out of ideas.
