Hard drive issue

Hi all,

Would appreciate some advice having drawn a blank with various Google searches.

Recently bought and installed an additional 3Tb drive in a Win2003 SBS server. Shows up fine with all capacity available.

However having now added files (690 Gb total) drive shows only 6% still available. No other files are showing occupying the remaining space. I have run chkdsk etc but they all report no problems.

Any suggestions appreciated, thanks in advance.

Shadow copies, perhaps? Right-click on the drive, there's a tab for SC options & stats.

Disclaimer: I've never used 2003 SBS, so I could be talking rubbish.

Sounds more like a large drive (>2GB) GUID Partition Table (GPT) issue.
Had you done what you should with ALL new HDD and completed a FULL format you would have noticed this issue before filling it with data.

I had a similar issue on my XP server when I foolishly removed the partition table on a new 3TB USB3 drive, I managed to work around it by installing ''Paragon GPT Loader''
