I plugged in a R9 280X to a motherboard yesterday and I didn't get anything on the display. After a while of thinking about it the motherboard gave me a error beep code which was that the motherboard couldn't detect a display adapter.

I tried a different card in the motherboard and it works fine.

I have had the card working, wondering if first up I should try flicking the bios switch to the other one to see if that helps but any other ideas would be gratefully received.

Do the fans spin up on the card?

If you are sure the card is okay, seated properly, and has enough power - then I'd try updating the motherboard BIOS and resetting the CMOS

Yes, definitely try the other BIOS. But also check the obvious - you've plugged in the PCI-E power cables, you've got enough amps on the 12V rail etc.

Fans do spin up. Tried the card's other bios and still not picked up by the mobo. 1200W PSU with one rail capable of 99.9A which better be enough cause it's got to power my R9 295X2 eventually

I'm on the lastest BIOS for my mobo but I think I can rule the mobo out as I have another of the exact same card here and it works fine.

Scan have issued an RMA so I will be posting it back tomorrow.

I haven't had to RMA any PC parts for over 15 years and then 2 in 2 days!!!
