    Windows 7 not loading

On start up my computer was freezing on the windows loading screen switched to post and found that it freezes when "initialising USB controllers". When the reset button is pressed Windows loads without a problem. Any ideas on what could be causing this problem?

Most likely drivers, but it is possible the USB ports are damaged.

Check them carefully to see if any are missing the plastic section in the middle of the port which make the port "handed" i.e. the bar which means you have to put a USB plug in the correct way round for it to work.

Try starting windows in "safe mode" - pressing F8 about twice a second as soon as you turn on the PC. You are looking for a black screen with the words "Safe Mode" written in the middle in white writing.
Use the arrow keys to select "Safe mode".
If you can now get in to Windows, you need to go to control panel, then device manager and then USB controllers. Right click on the drivers and delete them. Make sure you put a tick in the box to delete the software.
    Restart the PC.
You will have to down load the correct drivers from the computer manufactures web site.

Wonder if it were the drivers after all...
