windows 10 slight lag when switching wallpaper

there seems to be a slight lag when the wallpaper and themes colors change, i have noticed that the task handled by the dGPU (discrete) and afterwards switches back to iGPU (integrated)
whats annoying is that, changing the wallpaper makes the laptop to switch graphics. makes the laptop freeze for a second and after the task is complete revert back to iGPU

for sake of battery life i'd like to stay in iGPU and dGPU is good for play

anyone else experiencing this, never experienced this on win8

    i have a Gigabyte P2742 laptop,
i7 with gtx660 and 8 gigs of ram

Re: windows 10 slight lag when switching wallpaper

i played with it here's what i found so far
the default drivers that came on a cd with the laptop works well with wallpaper transitions( i referring to the Nvidia drivers) ,
but when i install a clean version of latest drivers designed for windows 10, the lag can be seen
(the laptop has LED indicators to show what GPU is used) it switches from iGPU to dGPU
i thought of updating drivers from bundled to latest driver supplied by Nvidia using windows update, the pc freezes up when i do that.( bunch of errors pop up the next time i start up pc again, after freeze up that is)

bundled drivers 295( or something, for windows 8, works flawlessly with win10 too)
    latest drivers 353

does it have to do with Nvidia Optimus
