Won't burn files through Explorer - have to use Media Player. Anyone else have this problem ?

What types of files/discs are you trying to burn?

Friends family movies (MP4) to disc

If you are just putting MP4 files on, to be accessed as .mp4 on the target device I'd just install ImgBurn and use that. It's small, free and the best tool for the job.

I'm stumped on your original question though, can you drag the files to the empty disc in the "My Computer" view?

Yep - but then it refuses to recognise the disc !
Do the same in an application like iTunes (shudder) or MediaPlayer or IMGburn and all is well.

Do you have this issue with different types of discs or have you tried with just one type?

I once had issues linked to only a specific type of discs while others were fine.
