Any way to fix my PCI-E slot?

Haven't posted in awhile due to work, but finally set aside some time to build a PC and it would appear my PCI-E slot is broken?
I plugged my GPU into the top PCI-E slot of my motherboard and though the PC manages to post, all the lights come on and the fans run, there's still no display on the screen.

Moving the GPU down to the x4 slot I don't get any problems booting up, but it's getting a lot higher temps (Probably because it's right next to my PSU shroud) and the fans seem to not work intermittently for whatever reason. I've checked the slot and it's not dusty nor does it look physically damaged, though I thought it was strange that I got a normal post (I know because of a motherboard speaker) yet had no display. Anyways, figured you guys have way more experience than I do.

    Specs:

    i5 6600k
    Corsair Vengeance 8gb x2
    GA-Z170-HD3P Motherboard
    Sapphire Nitro RX 470 Nitro
    Gamemax Falcon
    Cooler Master G550M
    Cryorig H7

    I'm grateful for any ideas

Update: Sent it back to Amazon and got an MSI Z170-A pro instead, which works fine too
