do i need the hdmi to dvmi lead as well as the other lead to allow my monitor to work?
basically i have an hdmi cable from the pc and it is a dvmi cable on the other end so is this one cable enough?

What graphics card do you have, if you have a new 3000 series it will play both the sound and the video over the DVI to HDMI lead. If its a Nvidia graphics card it might need a 2 pin cable to pass the sound from the sound card/ motherboard to the graphics card.

it is nvidia asus barvo 220gt, i have just had a new one sent as this one is not working with the drivers, i will try that tomorrow.

hehe, yeah, you can use either cable, even both if you've got two monitors

But yeah, one is sufficient.
