Importing Outlook Express .dbx to Office Outlook 07 .pst

    Hi,

My Mum recently got a laptop and I'm doing all the copying over of files/setting up accounts, which saves us alot of money instead of paying some "expert" .

Only problem I've had is with importing my mums Outlook Express Inbox.dbx, Sent Items.dbx and other .dbx files she has to Microsoft Outlook 07 (The one that comes with Office 2007) because all the outlook 07 emails seem to be in one .pst file called :Outlook.pst

Is there anyway of importing these .dbx files?

    I hope so

P.S I try going to File->Import and Export->and then Outlook Express Files but it doesn't give me an option to browse to the folder it just says that there are non to import like it only works if Outlook Express is installed????

Surely you just want to go to File -> Export and then it'll generate a .pst file for transfer?

If you're version of Outlook Express doesn't have this, try uprgrading to version 6 via Windows Update.

No other way round, I'm trying to import old .dbx files into Outlook 07 which uses a single .pst file

    Yes, that's what I meant.

Just tested it on my copy of Outlook express, when I went to "Export" it said it was generating a file ready for import into Outlook or Exchange server...

yes,but maybe its just my copy of outlook express is so old but it creates the .dbx files and I don't know how to import them into Outlook 07 which uses a single .pst file system rather than many .dbx's.....

Add an extra step, OE !

Import into whatever OE you have on the new machine (or Windows mail as it is in its latest incarnation)
Then just load Outlook, im pretty sure it just goes "ohhh look youve got an OE account, would you like to import?"

    Good luck

    Hello Mit,

I would suggest you to convert Outlook Express DBX to PST using Extract DBX program.

A week ago I have used this program and it works like magic.

All the best. Hope you will also get the best results.

    Regards,
    Allen Solly
