| No BIOS setup or POST screen on ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe! Hello all! I have just built a new system for gaming, it is as follows: Asus P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard, BIOS flashed to latest 1017 revision, Intel Pentium 4 3.4ghz CPU, 1GB GeIL PC4000 Ultra Dual-Channel, ATi Radeon X800 pro AGP card, Western Digital Raptor SATA drive, Asus 802.11g wireless PCI card, Asus DVD writer (secondary IDE, master drive), Western digital IDE drive (Primary IDE, Antec Sonata Case Antec 460w quiet PSU. The problem I am having seems quite strange. When powering up, I don't see any POST screen info, no logo's, nothing. The only thing showing before windows starts to boot is the promise fast track message. The Manual says to press delete when powering up to enter the BIOS setup, I have tried this and it makes the computer hang after the promise 'scanning for ide drives' message has finished and it doesn't boot windows. I have tried pressing delete repeatedly, holding delete, trying the same on the usual F-Keys and nothing works! I need to get into the BIOS setup to change some settings, but I can't! The computer installed windows to the single SATA drive with no problems, and when in windows it works a treat, it is very quick and runs Doom 3 like a dream! But this problem is really annoying! Help me please! Many thanks for your time! |

| 2 options: there should be a option to show the POST screen this is in the BIOS though so that a bit silly really 2nd option is to reset the CMOS and hopefully it will show the POST as default and allow you to enter the BIOS |

| How do you reset the CMOS?? ...with apologies for piggy-backing on your thread (!) But I'm having a very similar problem w/not being able to access the BIOS from w/in POST - del/f8/tab all inop Did you solve your problem ? and how does one 'reset' the CMOS - is that just taking out the battery? Thanks ! |

| Smell my cheese! | To re-set the bios you there is normally a jumper on the motherboard for this purpose (a quick peek in the manual will tell you where it is, usually in close proximity to the battery). Power off, remove power cable. swap the jumper to cmos clear (remove the battery first too if you like to be doubly sure). Leave it in the cmos clear position for a minute or two, then replace the jumper, battery & power on. then THIS, THIS and THIS and you need a HEXUS T-Shirt ...Size matters -> Sig Sizes |
