Hello there!

I just had to change my MoBo (my previous Gigabyte almost melted!!!) and since I wanted a temporary solution (for the next 6 months), I bought an Epox 8KRAI (via KT600).
I also have an ATI9700 (non-pro), Athlon XP2400+, 512 MB Kingston RAM (400-PCI3200) and a simple SB2 audio.

So, what is my problem:
I ran AquaMark and 3dMark2005 and though they were not very fast, they could end.
Then, when I ran my Pacific Fighters game (which is the reason I have my home PC) after a while it crashed and then it could not even accomplish the dxdiag graphic tests!
I tried the 4.12 and 4.10 cat and when I get home I'll also try some old 3.7.
Furthermore, after this crash, the Aquamark test is something like 30% slower than the previous testings! Another strange thing is that in ATI's website, I could not get into the pages that I choose drivers to DL (that was last night and all other web sites were working perfectly!!!).

So, anyone could have any idea of what it might be the problem and how to solve it?

have you tried resetting the bios and using the default optimized settings?

also in bios if fast writes is enabled , disable it

I disabled fast write and I also disabled AGP Texture Acceleration from dxdiag and both helped. But still I get the freezes, sometimes after 10 or more minutes of playing.
Isn't it strange?

The install is clear cause it comes after the change of MoBo.
Furthermore, after the freeze, windows load without any disk-check and they get me directly on desktop without any change on my view (you know, changes at resolution for example), as if nothing has happened.

Any other ideas?

could it be the CPU overheating?? maybe the heatsink isnt seated properly?

OK, I think I solved the problem

I added another 512mb ram (now total of 1GB) and I have no crashes since then.

Unfortunately this is happening again and quite often. To tell you the truth, after I thought I solved the problem, I didn't test it enough because for various reasons I had no time. Now that I try it again it usually crashes after some minutes of playing IL2/PF.
I will include my dxdiag in case any of you can figure out why this is happening...
