| Surround Sound I have an Asus A8N SLi motherboard which supports surround sound. I have Creative DTT2200 5.1 speakers. Using the Sound Manager utility provided by Asus, I can test the channels, of which all 5 output correctly with the "Front left, Centre, Front Right" etc, they all come out of the right satalites. There is also a demonstration of a bee hovering around you, which works too. I play Counter Strike Source. When I set the audio configuration to 5.1 Surround Sound and use the test function where a 3D room is shown with all 5 speakers, only the centre speaker produces output. It's getting frustrating now, because I'm getting pwned by n00bs as I don't have a cat in hells chance of guessing where I'm being shot from. Any help appreciated. |

| I'm hearing around the net that the HL2 engine has known bugs with the Realtek audio drivers. Hmm, looks like I may have to invest in a 5.1 sound card, I was going to anyway but only when I could afford it, now it's going to have to be sooner |

| Realtek (also Soundmax) are atrocious on all the modern engines. Couldn' play it on full screen and it advertised 5.1 and wouldn't output it properly through the Digital connections. Changed to a 2nd hand full version of the Audigy 2 ZS and everything works bootifully. Originally Posted by Errr...me 6014 3DMk 05

| I have the realtek chips, got fed up with me being told I had the speakers in the wrong socket all the time (when I didnt) so i just dropped in my old 5.1 Digital creative card and plugged in the surround, worked first time, and whats more, off the XP drivers.... Matt. |
