Day of defeat crashing on new dual core rig :( Hi guys, got my new rig setup and its 12 hour prime stable but after playing DOD:S for 30mins or so (less than 1 map change) it freezes. After much googling it seems the problems are to do with the nvidia drivers and dual core? Anyone running dual core with an nvidia card got problems playing Source games? I tried 81.98 drivers and now using 83.60 and its a bit better but still freezes...

I've got no idea if this will work but for CS 1.6 you need to set the hl.exe process to use one core. Now I know you are playing DoD:S which is based on a lot more recent game engine but you could maybe try setting the process to use one core and see if it stops freezing.

It's definitely not PSU related (graphics card drawing more power when rendering HDR) or somethign like that? How's FEAR or something like that turn out? |

I don't have FEAR unfortunately so I can't test it out. Farcry works fine though...Also doubt its the power issue since my PSU is pretty decent and it plays around 20-30mins of a map before it randomly freezes. Which drivers do you use? Have you got the MS hotfix?

81.98 display, 6.82 Mobo, AMD CPU driver...I'm not entirely sure about the hotfix, I slipstreamed my install and integrated a RyanVM hotfix pack, not sure if that had it in or not, but I certainly haven't noticed any problems with it. Hope you get this sorted asap... Will try and provide more info if you need it

Have you got NV firewall activated? I did when I first got my a8n (with X2 4400+)- and DOD:S kept stuttering and would often crash - try uninstalling the drivers and using a non mobo based FW. Does this happen with only online games? - if not ignore the above advice. Last edited by M0nkeyb0Y; 17-02-2006 at 02:43 PM..
