USB and Firewire Motherboard header to normal plug cables

I bought a card reader and USB 2 card from ebuyer,

these to be exact,

The problem is that the connectors on the card reader are all motherboard headers.
The firewire one looks like a 10 pin motherboard header and the usb looks like 3 pin
plus ground motherboard headers. The instructions for the firewire say to feed the
cable though a hole in the I/O panel and into an external connector. How am I supposed
to connect a motherboard header into a firewire socket.

The bloody usb 2 card only has the normal external connectors internally.

So i need a firewire connector to firewire mobo header cable and a usb connector
to usb mobo connector.

Has anyone got any links to the right sort of cables?

This has really got on my tits it would have been better to buy a new mobo cpu etc
than bodge it this way.

Ebuyer are so lazy to provide info about their products and now leave it to reviews.
Then change the product and the reviews are no longer relevant but they leave them on
annoyed yes i am.

I think what i need is a cable which looks like the pins on the mobo which converts into
usb and firewire. Im wondering if its better to buy some cheap cables cut them up and
solder them together

Pretty easy to cut & solder them, you can get usb cables at pound shops and all the wires are colour coded so you don't even need a multimeter to check the connections.

As a bonus if you salvage the other ends, you can make a connector that takes a usb plug and attaches to a motherboard header, just in case it's needed in the future.

Never tried with firewire but I bet it's very similar.

It seems that hacking a couple of cables together is going to be the way to go.

Ive ordered some cables from ebuyer now. those connectors are just too much
£3 each i could have stretched too but not £7.50 for one firewire convertor.

Well my ebuyer 50p cables come through.

I lopped off the end of the usb cable and soldered the wires to IC chip holder pins
which fitted very nicely into the motherboard header. Now I have front usb and a card
reader whooo. what a lot of effort that was.

Still havent done the firewire one but it seems it will be the same.
