Morning all, I'm wondering if you can help. The battery on my K8N Neo4 Platinum mobo keeps running out (every 2 to 3 months). This inevitable leads to me not being able to get past post (say's I need to insert boot disk. I don't even have a 3.5" drive!!). Even if I go into the bios first and change the settings so that it shouldn't boot from disk, it refuses to save to bios. As soon as I change the battery and then do my changes, problem solved. Anyway not really a problem as I just keep popping to Maplins to get more batteries, but it is begining to get on my wick. Has anyone suffered from a problem like this? Is there any solutions anyone can think of. Was wondering if it had the wrong battery in it but since NONE of the manulas or the MSI website mention the battery replacement I have no idea if the one I'm using (3v which was in it to begin with) is the right one. Thanks in advance! Panicos I currently own a Dell 4550 PC. I don't think its bad by any means. Here are the stats: 2.66Mhz Intel Pentium 4 533Mhz Memory (768MB) Ram ATI Radeon 9700 Pro Core Clock:263Mhz/Memory Clock 263Mhz 60gb Harddrive Creative Sound Blaster Live! Sound Card Also a K8N Neo4 Platinum Mobo AMD 64 3000 Venice Core ATI X800XT 1gb Crucial Ballistix Creative Sound Blaster Live! Sound Card

The usual battery for the bios is a CR2032 about the size of a 20p and also the battery should last for far longer than 2 to 3 months so I would suspect that the M/board has a fault and is draining the battery, if the M/board is under warranty I would get it replaced.

Ditto what Ultimate said, looks like there's a short somewhere. Look at the battery compartment and see if the +/-ve contacts touch each other (they shouldn't). Also when you install the battery, you should not use your bare fingers as this can significantly reduce its lifespan.
