Maxtor IDE hard drives read errors

    Hey

I've got 2 x 20Gb Maxtor hard drives that have read errors. I've got an Easy IDE from Scan (which is fab by the way) and Win XP won't do anything with teither of them

I downloaded testdisk 6.4 and I get read errors for all of the drive, but I can't delete the partition on there and try to start again. Partition Magic 8 won't open with it plugged in.

Any ideas or are they fudged?

    Cheers

    Tim

Go onto MAxters website and download powermax.

You run it in dos and it'll test your drives. If you're lucky you'll be able to do a low level format and get rid of the errors.

Otherwise it looks like you're going to need a couple of new drives.

Have you tried the drives connected directly to an IDE port?
