Intel Chipsets and ATI CrossFire - Future Proof?

    Hi All,

Just wanted to ask a question regarding ATi's CrossFire and Intel motehrboard chipsets (to be specific: P965). I plan on buying a new PC soon and the Intel Core Duo 2 and the P965chipset seem to be the ideal combo along with ATi CrossFire (the Abit AB9 QuadGT catches my eye).

However with the recent AMD/ATI merger, Intel have already stopped ATI's licence for making Intel chipsets (with the RD600 being ATI's last Intel chipset). My question is how future proof are Intel chipsets and ATI Crossfire before Intel (probably!) bans CrossFire working with Intel chipsets???

    Any advice appreciated.

    Regards, Brasco.

the Crossfire support is provided by the gfx driver & not the chipset driver.
So you've got more to worry about from ATi than Intel

To be honest Buff, if ATI were still a standalone company then you would probably be right. With AMD keeping ATI in check, hopefully the running of ATI will be a bit more 'steady' from now on Thanks for the tip though.
