    RWYB day

    ...that's run-what-ya-brung for the uninitiated

Yes folks it's a new year and Santa Pod opens up again on the 25th for the first RWYB day of the year. There's a bunch of us Alfisti going from another forum, few of my mates, and hopefully some of you lot

It'll cost you £25 for entrance and as many runs as you can handle during the day. More information on www.santapod.com and www.rwyb.com

    Any takers?

    My name is Simon

Nope not my type of fun.

I'd rather slide a car around a corner than race a car flat out in a straight line

So would I, but this is cheaper and lower risk

Besides, the skill is in the launch and the gear changes, not the straight line bit

Theres a load of MIGers going but not me, prolly do a few later in the year when I get the other cav back on the road...

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

You don't choose as such what you run against. Can be amusing since you get put next to a 2000hp drag nutter

oh... so you're always after a PB? you get to go as many times as you like in the day (i just read) so, what best for getting an edge? obviously more power, and weight reduction, what about fuel additives? make any difference to anyone's times???

Basically yeah, but reaction times are key for drag racing. You get put against the guy infront/behind you in the queue afaik, which is rarely a proper drag car as afaik they don't attend RWYB days.

Unless they are out testing - usually a few teams around on the weekend before the big events (when the track has been prepped) - or after major changes to engine/set-up. Though usually 'normal' cars wont run at the same time - fastest cars that Ive seen paired with a normal car usually run around the 9 - 10 sec mark, which is still a BIG difference when you running say 15 sec 1/4.

May be up for this (as some of the digi darkroom lads are going) depending on the weather and money.

For those going I would suggest a good checkover of the car the night before, oil & water levels, tyres etc etc - and try to remove anything heavy, still suprises me the number of cars that go down the 1/4 complete with huge ICE installs

and spare tyres etc? carpetc? i suppose every little helps... are there any benchmarks that one should aim at i.e. 15 sec 1/4, or terminal speed?? what's the best i can hope for with 120bhp (flywheel) and about 1100kg??
