Re: Calibra Progress *!= 56k*
Time and money on a calibra?
YouTube - Opel Calibra Turbo 4x4 2.0i 568 PS!!!! That was 2 years ago, needless to say its a damned sight faster now than then... On the otherhand I spent about £600 on brakes on mine and then about £500 to make it faster and it'd out accelerate porsches... |

It'll be running tomorrow then
![]() Could the engine and box not be fitted together? You have done the timing belt while it was out haven't you. I like the "precision machining" and what's the torque of them flywheel bolts, FTKeep the pics coming it's looking good. |

The timing belt on the engine is new yeah ![]() The torque on the flywheel bolts is 48 ft lbs then 30 degrees then 15 degrees. We figured out it was around 78 ft lbs approximately (or FT in a real mans measurements )The reason im doing the calibra sixer is that i can get it running 200 bhp, 6 speed whilst being fairly reliable and using it as a daily runabout, plus with the wide arch kit and dtm decals it will look fairly unique. Also ever since trig gave me a lift in his p2 cally turbo ive loved em so why not Its like why do people spend thousands on fiestas or saxos? In my eyes the calibra is a far better car to work on but each to thier own In a year or so ill be getting a weekend toy (think 300bhp 4x4 4ws and not skyline) but this will do for now ![]() Cheers for the comments guys. Unfortuantely it wont be running today as im playing cricket but ill be doing bits in the week and another big session next weekend ![]() |

Not doing too bad for myself now so not totally bothered. I just want to create as many emissions as possible to annoy the green brigade ![]() |

Re: Calibra Progress *!= 56k*
fair enough, I will buy green stuff because its better for the consumer, but when the excuse for every single damned thing is "green" nowadays ive just about had enough. Anyway this isn't the place for that discussion

Re: Calibra Progress *!= 56k*
Done a bit more today, not really much to look at but basically it entailed plugging things in. I intended on getting the wishbones off too but I ran out of time
![]() It started like this... ![]() I thought about putting the sparks in but decided against it for the time being but it took me about 30 mins to find them! Nice denso iridium plugs ![]() Next on was the PAS pump... ![]() And on with the fuel lines... ![]() Having never attached a clutch cable or adjusted one before i was pleased it didn't take me too long to figure it out and now properly adjusted according to the haynes bible... ![]() Heres how it finished, with more pipes attached and electrics hooked up... ![]() Plenty more to be getting on with, havent started the suspension or brakes, interior needs sorting and wiring inside finishing. New mirrors attaching, exhaust putting on, driveshafts on etc etc... Not sure it will be ready for Billing ![]() Ill leave you with a pic of my new torsion bar in place... ![]() More soon ![]() |

Re: Calibra Progress *!= 56k*
Arse bugger etc
Had one of those nights tonight.Wanted to get the wishbones off and the calipers painted with another coat on the front and the first coat on the back... I started by taking the car off its wheels... ![]() I then added another coat to the inlet... ![]() Once that was done i started trying to get the wishbones off. The first one came off fine... but the 2nd one was a pain in the ass and ruined the night! First the arb link nut wouldn't undo and then i broke my 16mm socket trying to get the rear bolt out! ![]() Tip No.1: Buy decent equipment.. Tip No.2: Dont use your body as leverage against the brakes to get off nuts that will break your equipment... ![]() I will carry on on Thursday now, had enough for the day! |
